MI4 presented MINE.THE.GAP at Clusters Meet Regions meeting

Coinciding with the celebration of the first European meeting Clusters Meet Regions, held in the framework of the Transfiere Forum in Malaga, MetaIndustry4 held a follow-up meeting with the company Canteras Industriales S.L., coordinator of the Celabden project, funded under the first Open Call of MINE.THE.GAP, and mentored from the Cluster by Jose Ramon Natal – cluster manager.

The meeting took place at the Aurora Mine, located in the town of La Malaha, south of Granada, and included a visit to the facilities where the equipment forming part of the proof of concept developed within the framework of this project together with the companies Advanced Mineral Processing and Minas de Cassiterite Sobreda was shown. The meeting served to learn first-hand about the progress of the project and its development, in which some slight deviations were addressed, resolving minor doubts.

CELABDEN aims to exploit the low-medium grade ore (60-69 %), accumulated in the mine tailings and dumps, after a concentration process. Preliminary studies have shown that the most suitable and effective method for concentrating Celestite ore is by gravity separation using a high density medium in a hydrodynamic regime with a hydrocyclone system. This project aims to achieve the optimisation of concentration process parameters before scaling up to a semi-industrial pilot plant developed by the partner company.
